First off, this is completely YMMV!
1. Go to Best Buy and purchase a HD-A2 display model for $99.99 (Don’t forget to pick out your two free HD DVDs)
2. Notice your BB receipt lists your HD-A2 as a HD-A3 for $99.99
3. Stop by Circuit City and ask them to price match Best Buy on a HD-A3 (show them your receipt)
4. Drive home with your brand new HD-A3 (including 300 and Bourne Identity in the box)
5. Gloat to all your friends about your $87 HD-A3.
NIIIIICE
I am confused. Does CC price match go below the price they are matching or something?
Also, how many HD DVD players do I need? :D That would be 3… one of each A1 A2 A3 (though I assume you return the A2…)
Dave,
CC does 110% price match
That’s impressive, but I honestly can’t see my local CC falling for it. How can they not know about the A2 being the discounted model? That “-150.00″ line on the BB receipt is a HUGE red flag!!!
How did you pull this off?!? Your local CC must have some reaaaaalllly gullible employees–didn’t a Manager need to approve such a meaty price match? ;0)
what happened was the BB employee incorrectly rang up the wrong sticker, notice the license plate number as open box - and the manual discount. I bought my A2 and it rings up @ $99.99 no discount needed. Sweet deal though i guess. I picked up Smokin’ Aces & Fearless (Jet Li). The player is a gift for my dad.
Crap. I live in WI and apparently we have the “anti-dumping” laws in effect here. Wal-Mart has the A2 priced at 185.00, down from 198.96.
As for Best Buy, no stores in WI OR the neighboring 5 states have ANY A2s in stock. They’ve been re-listed as deleted skus.
Circuit city in MA never takes off more than 10% on price matches.
