In this edition of “Sunday Ad Wars” Best Buy has a host of offerings, while Circuit City has nothing to show. First on the list is the LG BH100 Dual Format HD player for $799.99 after $200 in instant savings. Best Buy is also offering the Toshiba HD-A2 for $299.99 (MSRP Price), but you do get the 5 free HD DVD movies by mail from Toshiba.
On the software side, Best Buy is pushing this weeks HD new releases from Warner. The titles include “We Are Marshall”, “Troy: The Directors Cut”, as well as season 6 of Smallville (did anyone buy season 5?). We were also glad to see Warner give us a regular HD DVD (non-combo) version of “Troy: DC” at the same price as the Blu-ray version.

I’m not sure if you guys have heard anything, but I went to my local Best Buy last night, and they had two A30 players sitting on the shelf.
I’m gonna be picking up mine today, so I’ll keep you posted on how the new player checks out.
I was definitely surprised to see it there considering that they said the new players weren’t going to be out until the 1st of October. On top of that there was no price tag, and I had to grab an employee to scan it for me. He originally thought it was the A20, but I pointed out that it definitely said A30 on the box, and that it also came with the two free movies inside. As I was walking away he said it was really strange that they loosed the product a couple weeks before the release date, and said it might be a mistake, or that the release date was flexible.
Any ideas?
Smallville S6 was the highest ranked HD DVD on Amazon from the set being released today, so I guess it is popular. It was the second highest ranked BD.
I mean for Warner titles, Last Starfigher was ranked higher sorry :)
segarsj,
I don’t think the HD-A30 has a “street date” like movies do. I was able to pick up the HD-A1 at Best buy 4 days before it was to be released.
@Tyler
I actually found out that it was due out mid-Sept. so that explains everything, haha.
At any rate I’m now the proud owner of a new A30!
