Netflix Streaming Coming To Canada
Netflix has announced plans to bring the popular Netflix Streaming service to Canada later this year, the move marks the first availability for the service outside of the United States.
The service will initially launch only in English although support for French will arrive at a later date. The service will allow Canadian users to stream full length films and TV shows to their PC, Mac, and other Netflix support device for a monthly fee. The service may not initially come to consoles such as the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii immediately according to statements given to Shacknews. When asked a Netflix representative responded with the following,
We’re not announcing that until the service launches, but it’s fair to assume that several popular, brand name devices will be capable of streaming from Netflix to TVs at launch — in addition to the ability to watch instantly on computers — and that we’ll add to the family of devices over time.
The representative later added that the service will only include streaming and not mail rentals. A Microsoft representative gave Shacknews a “no comment” response but later added “We are always looking for ways to offer cool new services via Xbox Live.”.
Netflix has set up an official site for Canadian users interested in the service. Pricing has currently not been revealed.
