Netflix: 6% of Subscribers Use Blu-ray

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings revealed today that less than 500,000 (roughly 6%) of Netflix users take advantage of their Blu -ray library.

Speaking during a company earnings call, Mr. Hastings then went on to say he expects this number to rise as Blu-ray adoption increases.

Mr. Hastings also stated interest in bringing more Netflix “Watch now” enabled Blu-ray devices to store shelves as soon as possible, claiming it will be built into “as many Blu-Ray players as possible”.

    Netflix seems to want that feature in any and every device they can get it in. Here’s hoping that they’ll start HD streaming to computers soon.

    I recently tried to stream a Heroes episode at a friend’s house, and the quality was so bad, we switched to Hulu’s streaming with ads.

    Yea I guess the “in the mail model” has started to decline when better alternatives are out their.
