I usually use Pirates of the Caribbean:At Worlds End. It looks so good on Blu-Ray, and it’s a great movie to boot!

  2. John Dunlap on September 26th, 2008 4:14 am

I usually go with Cars. It really shines on Blu-Ray

My choice for best demo so far…because hopefully many more upcoming titles will also qualify…is…”Ratatouille”…Amazing video and sound quality, especially nice on a big screen. You can almost taste it!!! Nobody I know who’s seen it has ever been disappointed.

  4. benjamin yoon on September 26th, 2008 6:50 am

either transformers, casino royale, or ratatouille

  5. Blake on September 26th, 2008 7:59 am

I use Cars for demo purposes, because it looks perfect. Super crisp and outstanding detail!

I use Cars, actually I end up watch Cars multiple times per week with my 3 year old son…. It has be best combination of color contrast and “wow” sounds that makes for a great demo disc for family.

In my dad’s theater we use the drum scene from House of the Flying Daggers, the sound in that scene is a real crowd-pleaser.

I usually use I Robot. The quality is superb, and even during the fast action scenes, there are not artifacts. The transfer is incredibly clean, colors are rich and blacks are deep. Incredible picture and sound!

Actually, my favorite demo scene is from the HD DVD of Aeon Flux, where a fly flies around the room and she catches it in her eyelid.

If it has to be a Blu-ray, I would say Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

My favorite blu-ray to demo would definitely have to be Planet Earth – not only for that high-definition clarity but for the breathtaking landscapes and the pure scope and ambition of the project. Never ceases to amaze!

I like to use Transformers. Specifically the scene with the scorpion deceptacon. I love it with the planes flying through and the explosions and with Dolby True-HD sound and a great picture you feel you are there. The can feel the base in your chest and the surround it immersive.

I like to use Cars on bluray as it looks phenomenal!

  12. Sean Hampton on September 26th, 2008 1:33 pm

I think the movie Sunshine looks fantastic in high definition as well as the audio is incredible.

  13. Paul Sirianni on September 26th, 2008 1:42 pm

    I use Batman Begins.

  14. BluFan on September 26th, 2008 4:41 pm

As lackluster of a movie it may be, Speed Racer is absolutely incredible on Blu-Ray. The colors are simply an incredible benchmark for what BR and your HDTV have to offer. Then again, I’ve been working with WHV on some BR projects, so I may be baised.

Like the majority, I’ve used Cars as my demo material but I’ve also used Live Free or Die Hard for the audio. I’m going to start using Transformers as my demo material. It just looks and sounds awesome.

My favorite Blu-Ray demo disc used to be ‘I, Robot’ but as of lately I have preferred using ‘Speed Racer’ (at least video until a lossless audio version is released). In addition to being fairly sharp, it really shows the improved color next-gen discs offer. Of course any Pixar disc offers both great video and audio, but each of those has been mentioned already so I wanted to throw in something new :) .

I use Ratatouille to demo Blu-ray — it’s a total package… killer audio, insane quality video (have to see it to believe it!), great menu, and to top it all off, great story! it’s got it all!

  18. Oscar Bustos on September 26th, 2008 10:53 pm

for image quality i go with The Fall, but for sound i go with the last battle scene of Rambo, or the intro of Blade Runner.

  19. Robert on September 27th, 2008 5:57 am

Without a doubt, Transformers is big-time action entertainment, and when I have guests over for demos, I try to re-create that experience as closely as possible on my projector and audio setup. The video is spot-on and crisp, and spans across 108 inches of screen. The audio is in a league of it’s own, however. With a receiver that decodes the Dolby True-HD and passes it on, it is a loud, vibrant mix that sends people into Best Buy to get their own setup!

  20. Derek on September 27th, 2008 7:20 am

I use Pearl Harbor and Master and Commander.

  21. Ken Price on September 27th, 2008 7:43 am

Cars is a great choice. Blade Runner really shows how great even early movies can look on Blu-Ray

  22. Joseph Schneider on September 27th, 2008 8:37 am

Top Gun and Transformers are the two I like to showcase .. great sound as well

  23. Chris Sierra on September 27th, 2008 11:40 am

Probably Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest or Black Hawk Down. The later I pretty much end up watching the whole film.

  24. Kam A on September 27th, 2008 4:20 pm

    Definitely Cars!

  25. Jim LaBrie on September 27th, 2008 4:52 pm

My favorite Blu-Ray demo movie … hasn’t been released yet! Toy Story is my favorite DVD … if/when it is released on Blu-Ray, I expect it to be the best demo disk. (As far as current releases go, The Fifth Element is Numero Uno)

  26. Brian on September 28th, 2008 5:30 am

I like to demo with Speed Racer – the colors just pop off the screen – a Live Action Cartoon!

  27. DavidB on September 29th, 2008 12:06 pm

Since I don’t have a current receiver, I just demo Planet Earth off my PS3.

  28. John Berger on September 29th, 2008 5:23 pm

So far, the only BD movie I have is “How the West Was Won”. But at 2.89:1 aspect ratio, it’s one hell of a movie to look at!
