    Hey guys,

I have been coming to this site for almost 2 years now. Like the face lift by the way. I was a HD-DVD supporter since it was the cheapest deal with the best value. Obviously it didn’t work out but I now have a PS3 since my 360 red ringed on me like so many others. So now I have both players and continue to check this site out daily for cool HD news and good deals for both formats. I found you guys by doing a google search for High Def wars I believe and back then there was only a handful of these sites. Keep up the great work!

    Ooh, swag!

I wonder how hard it is to get an ISO of those Flexplay discs.

I’ve been coming here since last summer, which was when I finally started seriously thinking about getting a High-Def player. I think someone on highdefdigest linked to one of your posts, and I discovered that you had a full-content feed.

At first, all I did was point and laugh about the high prices from a distance, but then HD DVD came down to my pricing level (the 10 free movies helped) and I sprung for an HD-A3 in November. I’m still glad I did it.

Now, I’ve got a Blu-ray HTPC as well.

Also an early HD-DVD supporter, but now I’m rocking the Samsung BD-UP5000 Dual Format player… and pretty much buying all Blu-Ray discs. :(

I believe I found the site through Google back when the format war was still raging strong, so I’ve probably been a reader for about a year and a half now.

    Cheers gents!

    Hi guys,

I’ve been going to this site since late 2007. I stumbled on your site while looking for info on BR. I got some good deals from here and was entertained, especially when there was still a war. There are lots of good info as well.

I like the new layout. I will continue to visit this site for updates and good deals. Keep it up, guys!

First time poster, long time reader (probably since late 2007). I dont remember how i found the site, but it was probably through a link from digital bits or somewhere else. Keep up the good work.

I heard about this site on the Blu Ray forum. I too started out an HD DVD supporter and started coming to this site last year to get the skinny on what was going on in the HD world. I learned that HD DVD lost from this site. : (.

I now have a PS3 and check this site at least 5 times a week to get the latest on what is coming out.

    I want a swig of that swag…

Anyways, I found out about this site doing a Google News search for “hd dvd.” Let me set it up for you. About March it was becoming extremely difficult to find any sites reporting on HD DVD (since Toshiba called it quits in February). So I would do a Google News search to try to see what places were still reporting the aftermath of this ‘failed’ format I enjoyed. Don’t get me wrong, I also own Blu-Ray and was/am quite neutral in my support. Nonetheless, one of those searches brought me to this site which discussed one of my favorite topics – the format war. Unfortunately I stumbled upon it AFTER the war was decided, but it’s still been providing great news and I have also read articles that were posted before my discovery of the site. To summarize, I’ve been reading since March and stumbled upon it through a Google News search for the term “hd dvd.”

I continue to come here not only for the excellent posts on news and deals, but also for the comments which are quite civil compared to most places (especially forums) I frequent. It’s amazing to have such level headed fans of both camps, even those that aren’t neutral supporters. Regardless of the swag, and how much I love my Arnold in HD, I thank you again for such a civil site. Even with a name like format war central, it’s amazing how many people comment to discuss oppose to fight.

Hey, I have been visiting this site since I got my Blu Ray player a little over a year ago. I found out about the site from an internet search I did to get as much information as I could about Blu-Ray and HD-DVD (since I also own two HD-DVD players) when I started getting into Hi-Def Digital media.

  9. Bigdmelt12 on June 27th, 2008 1:56 pm

Hey guys, James Segars was actually one of the ones who mentioned the site so Ive been addicted ever since. Probably am confident enough to say I check it daily at work and stuff just to see the latest banter and all.

I am looking into getting a blu ray player, but borrow my roomates ps3 at the moment. I have an hd dvd add-on and do enjoy all hi def media. This site has one of the better layouts and all so keep it up.

    I love this site!!!!!!!!!

  13. Jeff Z on June 27th, 2008 4:48 pm

Reading the site about a year, when there still was a format war. Have my PS3 over a year as my BD player and it is still the best one, now profile 2.0. I found this site accidentally through a Google search about bluray when I was first researching buying a PS3 and have been reading it since…

  14. LueZuve on June 27th, 2008 9:52 pm

I’ve been coming here since about 6 months before HD-DVD bit the big one. I found you on an engadgethd post, loved it here, and just kept coming back. I pretty much check this site 4-5 times a week now.

iv’e been coming here for over 2 years, was a hd dvd supportor, then purple, then blu.always look forward to new news, and debates on the forum.
you guys have been fair, and done your best to report the news fairly.
blu-ray has been knocked hard since the war ended.i wanted hd dvd to win,but was glad the war was over thinking now hdm can move forward and in time over take people are looking forward to super rez with sd dvd’s.i’m shocked that people that coundn’t wait for hdm to get here are now the same people hopeing sr will work and no need to replace there dvd colletion.they had no issue replaceing there vhs with laserdisc or replace laserdisc with we have people that just won’t replace dvd with blu-ray.i understand their reasons but still doesn’t make sense to me.i’m sure putting sr side by side with bd the truth will be known, that is if sr even works.the fact that dvd is 480i and bd is 1080p,tells you right there you put crap in you get crap out ..when sr hits the market my hope is they will test it againist blu-ray.i think i know how thats gonna turn out.i have found over the years that electronics never live up to the will be no different. i don’t know what toshbia is smoking, but i guess they want there butt kicked again.the bda will not stand idle on this much money was spent on blu-ray to just let toshbia walk in and take over.with bd prices coming down, anybody with common sense will check sr and say ”not bad ,but i’ll take blu-ray.

I started coming to the site about a year ago when the Red vs. Blu war was heating up. I first bought a HD DVD add on ffor my XBOX and after a return (due to BLU winning the war) ended up with an HD A3 and after that broke, got my money back and found the add on once again for only $19.99, which was a steal in my mind. I ended up buying a PS3 to watch Blu early this year.

Through that time I have been coming to the site multiple times a day. I found the site when I was searching for Red vs. Blu news online. I needed a trusty site I could come to for the lasted updates, I wanted to know when to return and when to buy. I ended up here and have been coming ever since.

I’ve been coming here about 6 months. Found this site on google.

  18. webdev511 on June 28th, 2008 9:03 am

Been coming here for about a hear and a half via, of all things, a search.

I’ve been a movie buff for as long as I can remember, but never really took home theater seriously until I discovered LaserDisc. DVD was a nice improvement and I have to admit that before the format war, I was beginning to lose interest. I bought into HD DVD last July, a PS3 in October and finally an Onkyo 805 in February. Now both formats DO look and sound perfect!

  19. derric on June 28th, 2008 11:05 am

I found your site around last Christmas when I picked up a HD-DVD player (when I thought Blu-Ray was still out of reach). I kept reading regularly to keep myself apprised of the format war and to ultimately track the demise of the HD-DVD format. I now have a PS3 so I have kept reading to keep up with Blu-Ray happenings. Thanks for all the info!

  28. Tyler Pruitt on July 4th, 2008 9:36 am

I will post the winner in a little while!
