Akimbo Goes Out of Business!

For those who are not aware, Akimbo was a content-delivery service, over a year ago they announced a set top box that would allow you to stream video content on demand. The company was too busy searching for a good business model, eventually it caused them to drop their hardware model entirely and instead do a web based distribution service.

Engadget is reporting the company has gone out of business and are leaving behind a skeleton crew to look after the company’s remaining assets.

If they released their set top box in time, I think they would be in a much different position. Today the market is cluttered with different streaming models (AppleTV, NetFlix ect.) which makes it much harder for new comer’s to gain any ground.
