Paramount Misfires with Bee Movie, Face/Off, and Blades of Glory

When it comes to upsetting consumers Paramount is no stranger. However many people were excited when they announced that Bee Movie, Next and Blades of Glory were all arriving on Blu-ray May 20th.

Unfortunately, these titles have barely shown up in any major retailers including Amazon, Circuit City and Best Buy. While a few people have reported finding these titles they appear to be the exception not the norm. Hey Paramount, WHAT GIVES??? Do you like Wal-Mart and Fry’s better than everyone else?

Update: Fry’s is advertising Paramount titles this weekend
including Shooter, Italian Job, Face/off and Disturbia for $19.99

    Nice contribution Merrick :D

It should be noted, speaking of Fry’s, that they have Face Off, Disturbia and Shooter amongst the titles in a Paramount promotion this weekend. And I definitely saw Next in stock (though no Bee Movie nor Blades) when I checked May 20.

I will be stopping by soon and will report if I see anything interesting.

I found Face/Off at Walmart for $19.99,also saw Bee Movie In stock but no Next.Found Next at Bestbuy for $34.99 (only 2 copies in store).Next was advertised on Circuit Citys website for $19.99 but they had no copies.Next and Face/Off are priced at around $20.00 on several websites I know of (Amazon,DVD Empire) so Bestbuys price was a bit of a surprise.

Also, saw Warners new deluxe editions of the Dirty Harry films (standard def only)at Walmart on May 23.Dirty Harry (the original/1st film) was not a 2 disc version though, only a single disc version, maybe this is a Walmart exclusive, price of each film was $9.95.Surprised to see these out already, street date was supposed to be June 3.

On my visit to Fry’s I saw lots of Bee Movie discs, so I guess they may have missed May 20 but certainly had them this week. While they had the sale on Paramount, I noticed that they had no Shooter discs though they did have the others freshly in stock.

I checked out Best Buy and they had Next and Face/Off but not Bee Movie nor it seemed any refresh of the old titles.

So they are getting there slowly.

Amazon now lists all of the titles as pre-order except the MI box set.

Yeah, Bee Movie actually found its way to my Walmart as well.

Maybe I should complain more often.

Btw, props needs to go out to Dreamworks Animation. They did a SOLID job on Bee Movie for bluray.
