We read over at TVShowsonDVD.com that Fox has confirmed with them that the cult series Firefly is due for a Blu-ray Disc release.
They say that Jewel Staite revealed at the Supernova Pop Culture Expo in Australia that she had recently been asked to provide new commentary for what she called "a special edition of Firefly".
TVShowsonDVD.com then contacted Fox for comment, and it was revealed that there will be a Blu-ray Disc release for the title.
There are no details but this is certainly good news for Firefly fans. Hopefully we will also see Universal release Serenity on Blu-ray to complement this release.

Oh Yeah! But considering that the series is about 8 years old now, was it actually produced on film or HD video at the time or just boadcast quality? IE: A TV show shot on NTSC Video tape will not (should not) look any better on Blu/HiDef than it does on DVD.
I’ve just recently introduced a girl I’m dating to Firefly as we cuddle on the couch enjoying this series. Let’s see that’ll be the 8th person I’ve converted into a fan
I believe it was shot on film. It has aired on Universal HD so it has a Hi Def transfer already.
I have heard that the sharpness of the special effects is not great on UHD, so hopefully they will do something about that for the BD release.
