hmm080316.thumbnail.jpgThe latest Home Media Magazine is up, and while the excitement surrounding the relative market share numbers is dying down for obvious reasons, it is still interesting to see what is going on in HD Media sales.

This week Blu-ray Disc took over 3/4 of the market share, suggesting that the recent sell off for HD DVD titles is tailing off.

In the charts, we see a strong lead for No Country for Old Men, which reportedly had over 10% of its sales on Blu-ray compared to DVD. Word is that the number 4 title, Appleseed Ex Machina, had 30% of its sales on Blu-ray. Hitman was the number two title, selling just over half the quanitity of No Country for Old Men. Dan in Real Life and Independence Day round out the top 5 Blu-ray Discs.

On the HD DVD side, American Gangster and Beowulf continue to lead the HD DVD table and were ranked 9th and 10th in the overall standing. Batman Begins continues to be a strong seller behind Transformers but ahead of Top Gun to round out the HD DVD Top 5. All of these titles are currently HD DVD exclusives, though Batman Begins at least now has a release date for Blu-ray.
