With the new releases yesterday, there have now been 500 titles released since Blu-ray Disc was launched in 2006, according to the blu-raystats table.
While this total includes the Paramount and DreamWorks titles that were later discontinued, with their renewed decision to release on Blu-ray we expect that these titles will be reinstated soon.
Quite a milestone! It will be interesting to see how long it takes to add the next 500 titles – with Sony pledging 100 titles for 2008 it probably won’t take as long as the first!

Wow, this year will truly be the watershed year in terms of movie availability on Blu-ray. With the war essentially over, people jumping on board the high-def disc scene will be wanting to fill up their libraries quick smart. I wouldn’t be surprised if 2008 sees 300+ titles released.
