Fire Sale: Toshiba HD-D3 $79 At Costco

According to an employee at Costco, they are slashing the price of the Toshiba HD-D3 down to $79 starting today ($50 less than it was). The HD-D3 is the same as the HD-A3, but the D3 includes an HDMI cable in the box. Don’t forget that both ‘The Bourne Supremacy’ and ‘The Bourne Identity’ are included in the box as well.

The 5 free HD DVD offer should still apply, unless Toshiba plans on shafting the people who buy players from now on.

It is a good price, but it can’t to 1080p. It tops out at 1080i.

Now if retailers would only drop the price of the A35 to $149…

And just think… 10 months ago, HD-DVD players were $500 for the bottom end A2.

And back then, HD-DVD was showing signs of problems.

And we see the $1000 & $500 HD-DVD players here:

$80… Think about those guys who jump the gun to buy “backup players when my unit dies” at $130!! Expect even lower prices on those HD-players.

The fact that Toshiba has bailed out of HD DVD doesn’t seem to have filtered do to Toshiba here in New Zealand who are still listing their entry level player at around US$880 ass they were 12 months ago.. They’ll most lekley just send them to the land fill now..

just grabbed one from costco 79.99 but it comes with bourne supremacy & identity no 300 and of course i have both those titles….

@wreckedchevy. Don’t open them and do what I have done in the past and pitch them on ebay. I have sold 2 of the freebee versions of 300 for about $10-$11 each. Thereby making your total investment in the player even cheaper.

Yeah I’ll likely grab a “backup” player when the A30 goes down to around $100 price point – give it a few months. Everyone I have talked to, who knows I’m a big HD supporter has been waiting for the clearance sales – maybe HD will have their best week yet as far as disc #’s and % of market : )

  12. Belard on February 20th, 2008 9:35 pm

Why buy an A30? The only difference is that it has 1080P.

There won’t be any “new” A30s on the market in 2 months… as the fire sales get lower, the inventory goes down, they’ll be gone within 1-3 weeks. Currently Amazon has it for $130… just think, on Jan 1, 2008 – it was a $400 player.

And stores are not ordering new stock… In few months, the prices of HD-DVD players (new in a box) will actually start to go UP in price.

Once they become kind of rare, some people will be willing to pay higher price to get it.

Its actually possible to buy an OLD 4-5 year CPU for $200~300, when a modern CPU that is $30~60 will smoke it.

yea that’s what i planned on doing i’m going to leave everything sealed up for a week or so to see how low prices go then i’ll ebay the movies seen a rumour on avs that stated the hd addon are going to be reduced to 49.99 if that happens might snag on of them in case i build a htpc
