iamlegend.thumbnail.jpgWe read at DVD Times that details have emerged for the Blu-ray and HD DVD releases of I am Legend.

Now it seems that we are back to where we were with our original statement with a couple of features exclusive to the Blu-ray release.

These features are:

  • Cautionary Tale: The Science of I Am Legend Exploring the history
of pandemic viral infections and the reality of life-threatening
microbes lying in wait to impact humankind (HD) (BD Exclusive)
  • Creating I Am Legend Minidocumentary Gallery: Over 50-minutes of behind-the-scenes material (BD Exclusive)

It is hard to say if this is the final word, with conflicting information on this release…

UPDATE: High Def Digest is also reporting the additional Blu-ray features, as well as stating that the comic book features will be on the DVD side of the HD DVD combo disc.

Im really anxious to see this alternate ending.
If the alternate ending is so much better, one wonders how it never made it into the original cut.

Focus groups. Hollywood often makes changes to a movie’s ending based on majority reaction to test screenings. Blade Runner and Brazil are two famous examples of that.

From what I’ve heard, the original cut ending wasn’t that great either. Apparently it isn’t the same ending as the book.

I’m a big fan of Richard Matheson’s books, but I honestly didn’t mind the “Hollywood ending.” Enough of the original material was altered that I wasn’t expecting it to go the route of the novel anyway.

I’m with the last statement that the credibility on the story comes into question since is being cited as one of the sources. Just try and go over there and post anything remotely positive about HD-DVD and see what happens. ;) I guess we will just have to wait and see when it comes out on shelves.

The news is sourced from dvdtimes, not is just the way that we found the story.

Like most sites in the HD Media blogging business, for the most part doesn’t ‘make’ news, it just reports what it sees elsewhere…

That said, without a formal press release from Warner we can’t say for sure which is the correct answer.

For what it is worth, High Def Digest has also reported the new features.

They also say that the comics for the HD DVD will be on the DVD side of the combo.
