We see via AVS Forum that Mi Casa Multimedia list quite a few new 7.1 soundtracks in development for New Line HD titles. The list includes Harold and Kumar 2, The Golden Compass, Money Talks, Frequency, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Butterfly Effect, A History of Violence, Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2, The Last Mimzy, Dark City: The Director’s Cut and Tenacious D The Pick of Destiny.
It is great to see so many nice titles in process over at New Line, and I am personally very happy to see the studio embrace 7.1 audio where the other studios, perhaps with the exception of Lionsgate, appear to be happy with 5.1.

The day they drop “Dumb and Dumber” consider me a Blu-ray owner.
New Line has a surprising number of interesting titles for a small studio. For me, aside from the Rings (of course), there is Austin Powers and Final Destination franchises as well as Carey flicks like The Mask and Dumb and Dumber. Lots to look forward to.
Come on New Line! All well and good, but get off your duffs and get the LOTR ext cut trilogy out on blu!!!
Anybody know an insider at Weta?
Oh, I wasn’t being sarcastic. I love New Line. I’m still waiting for them to announce Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Se7en, American History X, and Little Children.
Those are all great/exceptional movies, many of which would benefit from the HD treatment.
New Line also puts together some of the most extensive/quality DVD releases.
Indeed – and I don’t think anyone mentioned the Blade franchise yet either. Personally I think that New Line and Miramax/Dimension/Weinstein really know how to pick their projects… I wish Weinstein would release something new on a format some time!
