Blu-ray Could Win High-Def Battle

Variety is reporting that both HD DVD exclusive studios are no longer obligated to remain exclusive to the format.
While stating that neither studio is ready to ‘throw in the towel’ at this time, they have confirmed that Universal’s commitment to backing HD DVD exclusively has ended.
They also state that Paramount has an escape clause in its HD DVD contract allowing it to release pics on Blu-ray after Warner Bros.’ decision to back that format exclusively. This is something we had already heard from unconfirmed sources.
The article also notes that retailer pressure could force the studios’ hands, with less shelf space for HD DVD.

Perhaps we will see the departure of our good buddy Ken G… In any case, the grapevine puts the Universal announcement at Feb 5 2008. I have no idea how good the source is for that so let’s take bets and see what happens..!
The sooner the better.
Dave, Ill go with your sources here!!!
I am not sure I would!
But it will be fun/interesting to see…
everything has suddenly become so corporate. the enjoyment of opening and wathing the discs is fading away already …
On the contrary I am looking forward to the time when I can get any new release on Blu-ray disc for enjoyment in my home.

HD-DVD is DEAD at CES… Can you notice the difference?
On this website, this article shows pictures from a Target… when a consumer sees so few HD-DVD titles next to Blu-ray, guess what player they’re gonna buy?
