HD DVD: Best Buy B2G1 Coming Soon

While the current B1G1 offer from Best Buy is certainly sweet, and it’s a definite step in the right direction towards discounted software, the limited selection has got many early adopters in a bit of a bind because they already own many of the discs that are on sale. Well, fear not HD DVD owners, Best Buy is stepping it up as we head into the final stretch of the holiday shopping blitz.

The word on the street is that Best Buy will be offering a new deal, starting this Sunday, that will allow customers to purchase any two HD DVD’s and get another one, of equal or lesser value for free. There are some limitations/exclusions, as box sets don’t qualify, but the deal is nearly perfect. The only thing left to be desired now would be a deal that allowed the consumer to buy any one HD DVD/BD disc and get another one free. Most assuredly, a deal like that is on the horizon, but at this time, it doesn’t seem as though we’ll see one before the year is out.

Of course, this deal will almost certainly apply to the newly advanced releases of Eastern Promises, The Kingdom, Time Cop, and Cat People that are set to debut on HD DVD this Sunday. At the time of this writing there is no indication whether or not there will be a comparable offering for Blu-ray, but if anyone manages to confirm this, we’ll surely update this post.
