Target Rolls Out New Sony Blu-ray End Caps… Kinda

target.jpgAfter all the hubbub when Target announced they would only be carrying Blu-ray stand alone players. We wonder if Sony is getting their money’s worth. Some Target stores are now rolling out the Sony Blu-ray end caps to selected stores. Also the same stores are expanding their Blu-ray/HD DVD movie sections. The Blu-ray section is now 23 movies wide by 5 movies high (up from 4 x 5), the HD DVD section is now 7 movies wide by 5 movies high (up from 2 x 5). One other thing had us scratching our head, the Sony Blu-ray end cap had no display device, a nonfunctional player, and no players available for sale.

Way to go target! I’m sure that lack of tv will help sell those bluray players that they don’t have. I’ve never seen any bluray OR hd-dvd stuff at the Target stores near me.

It’s funny how one lackey electronics department somewhere paints the whole picture for the entire chain for you guys. Lighten up, they are probably n the process of setting it up and you happen to take pictures in the middle of it.

23 movies wide sounds like a huge section for a chain like Target. The local ones here have about 4 wide by 7 high for BD, and about 2 wide by 7 high for HD. They never seem to have any sales though – I cannot imagine a lot of folks are flocking to Target to buy these technologies though. Best Buy & Amazon seem to have the most sales & more movies obviously.
