If the Daewoo player is a little low end for you, you may be interested in the no doubt very expensive Loewe player announced at IFA. The only specifications that I can glean from the article is that it is 1080p and 24 fps capable. My German consultant assured me that there is nothing of additional interest in the article, along with his opinion that Loewe is overpriced and mediocre. That said, it is a new option for people who like to be stylish and have outlandishly expensive toys.
Sharp also announced that they will be releasing a player, the Aquos BD-HP20S, also promising 1080p at 24 fps. Perhaps more amusingly they announced that “they will one day be the world’s number one manufacturer of Blu-ray players”.
Philips announced the BDP7100, also supporting 1080p at 24 fps (perhaps that is the new Blu-ray theme!) as well as support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD High Resolution Audio. It is not clear if this includes Master Audio. If it does it could be a first.
