USA Today is reporting that Close Encounters of the Third Kind will be released on Blu-ray Disc on November 13. While the price is high at $50 for the Blu-ray Disc version, the Close Encounters of the Third Kind: 30th Anniversary Ultimate Edition will feature all three cuts of the movie: the original 1977 cut, the re-edited 1980 theatrical cut and the 1998 Directors Cut. There will also be a new interview with director Stephen Speilberg and a retrospective documentary. This will be the first Speilberg movie to be issued on high definition disc.
Update: Home Media Magazine is reporting that the Close Encounters disc will be a single 50GB disc and will feature seamless branching to handle the three versions of the movie, minimizing the space requirements.
