According to a english translation of this press release, Pioneer electronics is claiming Universal’s exclusive contract with Toshiba will be over at the end of 2007. Pioneer claims the studio will then start to release its films on both HD DVD and Blu-ray. In our opinion this could mean the death blow for HD DVD, as Blu-ray would have almost all major studios (except Sudio Canal, The Weinstien Co.).
