Our first thought when we heard about the AACS key debacle on digg was, “Wonder what the EFF’s position will be?”. We think digg really shot themselves in the foot, as they should have challenged the C&D/DMCA notice on the grounds that the key was already public knowledge (Wired.com has had the key posted on their blog since mid February). When the “HD DVD Promotion Group” is a major sponsor of digg, and diggnation, what else could you expect from a site backed with VC funding? The thing we find so funny is: HD DVD is getting so much free press for this, much more than their $150 Million advertising campaign got them.
